Kawaguchiko
| Tokyo Surroundings Kawaguchiko is a lake and a resort region in the Kanagawa prefecture in the central
region of Honshu in Japan. (see Prefectures
of Japan in the Maps section) The Kawaguchiko lake is famous for its views
of Mount Fuji, hot springs (onsen) and ryokan's. Kawaguchiko is included in
the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park,
where the central feature is Mount Fuji.
Kawaguchiko is quickly accessible from Tokyo. You can easily take day trips to
Lake Kawachiko from downtown Tokyo to enjoy the serene nature, as well as enjoy
fantastic views of Mount Fuji. The views of Mt. Fuji from Lake Kawaguchi are
very picturesque.
Kawaguchiko has a terminal rail station which is a convenience for travelers
who visit the Fujigoko area or Mt. Fuji. As the most developed resort area among
the 5 lakes, Kawaguchiko has many attractions such as art museums and lake cruises.If
you are interested in climbing up Mt.Fuji, there is a mountain bus for the 5th
level of Mt .Fuji available from Kawaguchiko Station.
