Tokyo, the name of the modern capital city of Japan
Tokyo should be considered in the same tourist destination of world class international cities like Paris, London and New York. Tokyo is the financial, political and commerce heart of Japan. While the pace of the city can be overwhelming, we will show the quiet,tranquil side of this great city. The city was historically referred to as Edo. In 2003, celebrated the 400th birthday of Tokyo.
Editors note: a fantastic PBS TV program called Japan Memoirs of a Secret Empire is highly recommend viewing. It is also the 400th anniversary of the Tokugawa Shogunate which established their home and the political capital of Japan in Edo (Tokyo) in 1603.

There is also a couple of articles that help you to read and understand an address in Tokyo: very important, since the numbers of buildings do not follow the custom of a linear 1-2-3..etc. sequence. More like 23 - 278 - 1 sequence, etc. The date of construction determines the street number of the building.

Japan is considered the most wired country in Asia, and Tokyo has an abundance of Wifi and internet access access points, so if you need to find internet access while travelling, we provide a few suggestions, please see INTERNET ACCESS. Remember, access is generally not free and you might need to be a member, or subscribe to service providers before you can access WiFi internet at various locations in Tokyo.
